Pyrexiophobia
Pyrexiophobia - Fear of Fever.
An acute fear of fevers. A fever is a rise in the temperature of the body; frequently a symptom of infection. To a less accurate extent pyrexiophobia could be referred to as a fear of infection, but this is much less direct and quite inaccurate. Pyrexiophobia is treatable, as are most phobias, usually through the normal methods of psychotherapy.
Pyrexiophobia may be a serious phobia, but it is treatable. The fear of fever can often be treated with psychotherapy, hypnotherapy or by trying to find the underlying cause.
Often is the case with Pyrexiophobia is that that there was some sort of traumatic event in the patient's life that caused this fear of fever, with a little therapy or by hitting the fear head on, this can often be cured.
Pyrexiophobia has been know to ruin people's lives. Living with the fear of fever is often very difficult, but with time, it can be possible.
